Job summary

Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) seeks an experienced Homeownership Director to lead the Homeownership Department, oversee loan originations, pricing, and product strategy, and strengthen lender partnerships. You will drive policy development, ensure compliance, manage risk, and deliver a high-quality borrower experience.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will guide a team, use data-driven processes, and translate VHFA priorities into measurable goals for affordability,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience in mortgage lending, housing finance, or related programs.
• Ability to translate priorities into measurable goals and allocate resources effectively.
• Experience balancing mission, customer needs, market conditions, compliance, and financial considerations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building with lenders and partners.
• Proficiency with data systems and digital tools to improve quality and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Expand Sustainable Homeownership: broaden loan production while advancing VHFA’s mission.
• Lead Product and Pricing Strategy: maintain competitive offerings aligned with market and agency capacity.
• Shape Programs and Policy: define a forward-looking homeownership strategy with measurable goals.
• Deliver a Strong Customer and Lender Experience: ensure consistent service from engagement to loan purchase/servicing transfer.
• Strengthen Partnerships: maintain relationships with lenders, servicer, GSEs, and other partners.
• Protect Program Integrity: ensure compliance and robust data, controls, and reporting.
