Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; healthcare experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience in Health Information Management/Medical Records in an acute-care hospital.
• Knowledge of HIM operations, HIPAA, privacy, and compliance standards.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage onsite and remote staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day HIM department operations, ensuring secure, accurate health information.
• Leads onsite HIM staff and remote CDI team with performance management and development.
• Serves as Privacy Officer, guiding HIPAA and privacy matters.
• Oversees ROI operations and liaison with ROI vendor for timely releases.
• Monitors chart completion, physician deficiencies, and provider communications.
• Partners with departments to resolve unbilled accounts and reimbursement issues.
• Coordinates with coding leadership on delays and denials; supports CDI program.
• Promotes regulatory reporting and vital records processes.
• Chairs or participates in HIM leadership and compliance meetings.
• Supports new service-line implementation and EMR improvements.
