Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Director, Public & Government Affairs – Global Public Policy to identify policy priorities across subject areas, devise strategic plans, and advise senior leaders on action. You will monitor legislation and regulatory activity at all government levels, build relationships with external stakeholders, and coordinate with internal teams to shape informed policy positions and responses.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of public policy experience and success in government or public affairs.
• Bachelor’s degree in government, economics, international affairs, business, or related fields; advanced degrees preferred.
• Deep understanding of policymaking processes at state/local, federal, and global levels.
• Ability to tackle complex public policy problems and act quickly when they occur.
• Ability to counsel senior leaders on policy issues and strategy.
• Experience navigating matrixed organizations and driving collaboration across teams.
• Experience cultivating stakeholder relationships with trust and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Identify and shape Walmart's public policy priorities and collaborate to execute strategic plans.
• Devising strategic plans to address public policy priorities and work with colleagues to execute tactics.
• Inform, advise, and recommend courses of action to internal partners on policy priorities.
• Monitor and analyze legislation and regulatory activity at all levels potentially impacting Walmart, associates, or customers.
• Build and manage relationships with external trade associations, NGOs, policy experts, and other stakeholders.
• Leverage stakeholder relationships to advance Walmart’s policy priorities and public understanding of Walmart’s role.
• Engage in public policy research with internal and external partners.
• Build networks across internal functions to develop policy positions and responses.
• Collaborate to create and maintain public policy workstreams and partnerships benefiting Walmart.
