The Director, Global Medical Publications will support Otsuka by leading and developing the scientific communication strategy for publications and congresses. This role involves working closely with Global Medical Affairs Teams, Clinical Teams, Global Value & Real-World Evidence Teams, and Publications Management Specialists to plan and execute publication activities.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Strategic Publication Planning Group (SPPG) meetings for assigned compounds to develop scientific communication platforms, lexicons, and global publication plans.
  2. Manage the Scientific Communication Platform and Lexicons to ensure they are current.
  3. Collaborate with the publication planning team and Publication Working Groups to develop and implement global publication plans.
  4. Drive communication strategies with medical affairs and clinical teams, ensuring regional and local strategy alignment.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with external authors and participate in publication activities such as congress presentation reviews and steering committee meetings.
  6. Provide updates on publication activities to cross-functional teams.
  7. Facilitate the development of congress presentations and support digital and patient-centric communications.
  8. Assist in engaging with the external medical community and developing content for educational sites.
  9. Contribute to strategic planning for global medical congresses and internal communication regarding congress coverage.
  10. Coordinate with Publications Management to oversee vendors, budgets, and operational activities.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years in healthcare/pharmaceutical sector with 5+ years in Medical Affairs or Scientific Publications.
  • Master's in Science required; PhD or PharmD preferred.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role managing a team.
  • Experience in CNS, Nephrology, or Rare Disease is a plus.
  • Proven ability to develop scientific content and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
Educational Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in scientific/healthcare field (PharmD, PhD, MS).
  • ISMPP CMPP certification preferred.

Additional Details

Salary range: $183,335 - $274,160 plus incentives, based on experience and skills.
