Edmund Optics in Barrington, NJ is seeking a Director of Inventory Planning and Optimization to lead global inventory strategy and drive analytics-led decision making. You will partner with Operations, Finance and executives to balance service levels, cost and working capital while shaping tools and processes for scalable analytics and team growth.

The role emphasizes data-driven forecasting, tool optimization, and collaboration across multiple sites to improve forecast accuracy and inventory

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with forecasting experience.
• Hands-on inventory planning experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/NetSuite).
• Experience improving working capital, inventory turns, and service KPIs.
• Expert in analytics and reporting (Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
• Leadership capability and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead global inventory strategy to support service levels, cost efficiency and working capital.
• Direct evolution of demand forecasting strategies, processes and systems.
• Manage inventory planning tools and analytics platforms.
• Establish and monitor KPIs including service levels, fill rates and turns.
• Develop annual inventory forecasts for finished goods across sites.
• Collaborate with Finance and Supply Chain to manage working capital targets.
• Drive data-driven decision-making and identify risks and opportunities.
• Lead end-of-life and excess inventory initiatives.
• Implement process improvements for forecasting accuracy.
