Airwallex is hiring a Director, Data and Knowledge Platform Engineering in San Francisco to own architecture, delivery, and adoption of a governed Data → Knowledge → Skills stack powering analytics, AI agents, and real‑time decisioning.

The role leads the semantic and operational layers on a Databricks Data Lakehouse, ensuring governance, lineage, and scalable capabilities across regions while enabling both human analysts and machine agents to reason and act consistently.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in data/platform engineering.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams in multi‑region environments.
• Proven experience architecting modern data platforms with semantic layers.
• Strong data governance, quality, lineage and observability practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale the governed Data → Knowledge → Skills stack across regions.
• Enforce governance and lineage in a Databricks-based Data Lakehouse environment.
• Productize capabilities so analysts and AI agents reason and act reliably.
• Partner with Data Science, AI engineering, Product and Risk teams to enable rapid experimentation.
• Drive adoption, developer experience, and SLAs/SLOs for the platform.
