Job summary

Airwallex is seeking an Operations Strategy professional in San Francisco to lead the Data and AI Governance Program, partnering with IT, Security, Legal, Engineering, and Data teams to design and operationalize governance frameworks.

You will run sprints, map dependencies, define success metrics, and translate governance requirements into actionable processes, balancing risk reduction with business agility.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fast-growing tech startups or top-tier strategy/consulting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, esp. with Engineering and Legal teams.
• Experience with data governance initiatives, including data tagging, classification, and ownership.
• Experience with access management: coordinating cross-functional delivery, reviewing access to sensitive data, driving remediations.
• Demonstrated ability to run programs end-to-end: sprint facilitation, dependency mapping, reporting, cross-functional alignment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Self-starter who can identify and prioritize opportunities.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end program management for cross-functional data and AI governance initiatives: run sprints, track progress, report to steering committee.
• Map dependencies across domains and align stakeholders on governance strategy, priorities, sequencing.
• Set strategy for governance frameworks and assess proportionality to risk.
• Define and track success metrics for governance programs.
• Translate governance requirements into operational processes, including access management and hardening.
• Run technical deep dives on access control implementations (Okta, Databricks, back office tools).
• Drive requirements and design documents through development, review, and approvals.
• Create a living AI model and use case inventory to track AI governance risks.
• Partner with Legal to translate regulatory requirements into policy and process.
