Job summary

Airwallex is hiring a Data Engineering Manager in San Francisco hybrid to scale data foundations powering analytics and product decisions. You will lead data engineers on data modeling, pipelines, and governance, partnering with engineering leaders, product, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.

You will shape SSOT across domains, guide batch/streaming ETL, and drive AI-enabled data thinking while growing a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines with hands-on depth.
• 2+ years of experience directly managing or leading data engineers.
• Proficiency in SQL, data warehousing, and modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead a data engineering team focused on modeling, pipelines, and analytics-ready datasets across multiple domains.
• Define technical direction for data modeling and ensure SSOT across data layers.
• Oversee batch and streaming ETL pipelines and collaborate with DPEs and PMs for durable, scalable solutions.
• Own data governance strategy and ensure data quality, privacy, and lifecycle standards.
• Drive thinking on data engineering and AI integration to deliver high-impact outcomes.
