Job summary

Crum & Forster seeks a seasoned Claims Director & Coverage Counsel to lead complex General Liability claims. This role focuses on coverage analysis, declaratory judgments, and coordinating with underwriting and risk partners across multiple locations, including remote work options.

The ideal candidate has JD, 3–5 years in claims and 8+ years in insurance coverage law, and excels in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and persuasive writing.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in a technical claim handling role, specifically in General Liability.
• 8+ years of Legal experience at a law firm handling insurance coverage issues in General Liability matters.
• Experience litigating coverage lawsuits or declaratory judgments preferred.
• Coverage experience in General Liability (premises, products, bodily injury, etc.).
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to lead and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Handle declaratory judgment actions related to General Liability.
• Provide coverage analysis and draft coverage position letters with claims team.
• Analyze risk transfer issues and pursuit of transfer opportunities.
• Review Time Limited Demands and allegations of unfair claim practices; liaison with underwriting partners.
• Assist with litigation strategies and ensure proper defense counsel selection.
