Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Director of Project Development to drive the delivery of grid-scale fusion projects. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage permits, interconnection, and financial modeling to bring ARC and future plants to the grid by the early 2030s.

The role requires strategic planning, risk management, and strong collaboration with engineers, lawyers, and consultants. You will build a center of excellence for development, track performance, and create scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 10+ years in large-scale energy projects.
• 5+ years in large capital project development and investment.
• 5+ years of project management experience.
• Experience achieving financing for major projects (> $50M).
• Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of internal resources and external partners to obtain permits and approvals for site prep and construction.
• Maintain project schedule and budget; develop recovery plans for shortfalls.
• Create a repeatable playbook for future ARC site development.
• Drive process improvements and develop tools or policies.
• Develop and maintain a site and partner repository for ARC development.
• Ensure EHSS, legal, compliance, and risk management throughout the project.
• Produce long-term revenue/expense projections for financing decisions.
