Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting to lead our external reporting and technical accounting.

This role supports consolidation, intercompany activity, revenue recognition, and disclosure requirements across AOI’s global operations, while coordinating with auditors and the Audit Committee. The candidate will manage SEC filings, drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and mentor the financial reporting team as AOI scales its U.S.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA certification required.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting or public accounting, with at least 3 years leading a team.
• Experience with SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Proxy) for a public company.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge: revenue recognition, intercompany, lease accounting, stock-based compensation.
• SOX compliance experience; design/remediation of controls.
• ERP experience (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong written communication; able to present to CFO and Audit Committee.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end SEC reporting processes: 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, Proxy statements, and related schedules.
• Draft/ review MD&A, footnotes, and disclosures for clarity and accuracy.
• Monitor SEC developments and advise CFO on implications and gaps.
