Job summary

OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG) is seeking a Director of Financial Operations to join our FP&A team. You’ll lead financial performance for regional operations, partnering with SVP/VP/DOO and service lines to drive margin, labor productivity, and contract economics.

You will bridge field operations and corporate finance, own FP&A activities for regions, and deliver data-driven insights to guide strategic decisions at the hospital level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, healthcare management or related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in FP&A or Financial Operations, healthcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve, take initiative, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills; data-driven decision making.
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate financial modeling, variance analysis and reporting.

About The Role

OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG) is seeking an experienced Director of Financial Operations to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. In this key leadership position, you’ll serve as a financial leader and strategic business partner to assigned regional operators/general managers (SVP/VP/DOO) or service line leaders (e.g., strategic adjacencies). This role has full financial accountability for regional performance, including revenue, contribution margin, labor productivity, contract economics, and hospital profitability.


This leader partners with operations to drive financial discipline, identify margin expansion opportunities, support contract negotiations, and ensure alignment with corporate financial objectives. This role bridges field operations and corporate finance, ensuring financial strategy translates into operational execution. He/she will serve as a key finance business partner to clinical & ops leaders, own FP&A activities for the regions he/she supports, monitors/manages/reports hospital program and regional performance, and influences changes by providing value-added analysis to inform sound data-driven business decisions.


Key Responsibilities


  • Co-develop, review, and approve regional financial targets/plans with Operations.

  • Drive corrective action plans when regions underperform.

  • Manage financial modeling for hospital contract negotiations by partnering with pricing team & ops (serving as conduit) on pricing strategy and renewal economics.

  • Identify structural cost improvement opportunities.

  • Evaluate regional investment decisions.

  • Serve as financial voice in regional leadership meetings.

  • Escalate financial risk to finance, operational, and clinical leadership.

  • Enable accountability for regional margin delivery.

  • Validate staffing models to ensure labor productivity targets are met.

  • Provides financial approval for major regional initiatives

  • Collaborate with operations leaders to develop and maintain hospital-level plans based on contractual obligations and shift coverage expectations.

  • Coordinate the development/refinement of variance reporting that assists operators in targeting key areas they should focus on to strengthen hospital relationships and ensure profitability.

  • Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators for each hospital and regional operations teams.

  • Assists in the creation of presentations that demonstrate value proposition for hospital partners in collaboration with operations leaders.

  • Develops monthly/quarterly business performance & operating review decks and participates in MBR/QORs internally as well as EBRs with hospital partners, as appropriate

  • Collaborate with corporate FP&A team to ensure program/regional forecasts inform (and conform to) corporate-level targets.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve financial performance of assigned operating regions

  • Partner with other internal departments for data enhancement, process improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.

  • Provide financial support for new/adjacent service growth as well as potential inorganic (M&A) growth


Qualifications

Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, healthcare management, or related field.

  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of experience in a mid to senior level FP&A or Financial Operations position, healthcare experience preferred.

  • Ability to problem solve, take initiative, perform multiple concurrent tasks, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong analytical aptitude, excellent written and oral presentation skills.

  • Change agent with the ability to look for new ways to improve the business.

  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

  • Leverages AI tools to accelerate financial modeling, variance analysis, and reporting cycles while maintaining rigorous accuracy standards

  • Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting.

  • A collaborative team player who has strong relationship building skills. Must be able to relate well to individuals at various levels.

  • Highly ethical and trustworthy, unwavering integrity.

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills. In-depth knowledge of data mining and analysis.

  • Detail oriented with focus on data accuracy and integrity.

  • Ability to assist and/or lead various projects.


Preferred


  • Master’s Degree or CPA

  • 10 plus years of high-level healthcare analytics.

  • Financial planning and analysis in a healthcare services or hospital environment.

  • Workday Adaptive Planning experience.
