Job summary

Waymo is seeking an experienced safety leader to own Operations Performance on Waymo’s Field Safety team. You will lead investigations and drive safety improvements across autonomous and manual driving operations, testing programs, and depot environments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply Human & Organizational Performance principles, and guide enterprise safety requirements for fatigue and driver risk mitigations, reporting to the Senior Director, Safety.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in a relevant field as listed
• 10+ years of safety work involving human-system interaction
• Experience applying HFE and HOP to incident investigations and risk control
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and self-motivation

Responsibilities

• Lead deep-dive investigations into field events involving human-system interactions, driving process and system improvements
• Define enterprise safety requirements and standards for drivers and vehicle operators including fatigue/distracted-driver mitigations
• Analyze operational field data to support closed-loop safety learning
• Champion a just safety culture across Waymo
