Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Director of Family Services to lead the department, ensuring delivery of compassionate donor-family care while optimizing donation authorization outcomes.

The role emphasizes staff development, operational excellence, performance accountability, and alignment with organizational priorities. Collaboration with senior leaders will drive strategic initiatives and compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years experience in an organ procurement or related clinical leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in family engagement, authorization processes and customer relationship management.
• Advanced degree in nursing, public relations, business or healthcare administration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of the Family Services Department.
• Serve as liaison between Quality and BI departments to drive performance and compliance.
• Act as primary senior leadership contact for donor hospitals to increase LoH authorizations.
• Develop strategic goals and action plans to achieve QAPI and department objectives; participate in on-call administration.
