Job summary

Aerotek in Rochester, NY is seeking a Director of Facilities Maintenance to lead the maintenance and reliability of a mixed-use high-rise. You will oversee facility operations, maintenance staff, contractors, and critical building systems to ensure tenant satisfaction.

The role focuses on preventive maintenance, budgeting input, and long-term maintenance strategies. You will partner with property management and tenants to resolve issues while maintaining safe, compliant operations for HVAC,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of facilities, building maintenance, or engineering experience.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.
• Experience managing preventive maintenance programs and contractors.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (Metasys, Applied Logix, or similar).
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life safety, fire protection, and security systems.
• Supervise and develop maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors while ensuring quality and accountability.
• Manage building systems, including air handling units, heating and cooling equipment, pumping systems, and building automation controls.
• Coordinate capital improvements, equipment upgrades, installations, and contractor-managed projects.
• Respond to emergency situations and ensure safe, reliable building operations at all times.
• Manage work orders, maintenance records, inventory, and compliance documentation.
• Partner with property management, tenants, and vendors to resolve maintenance issues and maintain high service standards.
• Assist with budgeting, planning, and long-term maintenance strategies.
• Support general facilities maintenance activities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and building repairs.
