Job summary

The University of Memphis seeks a Director of Enterprise Infrastructure Services to provide strategic leadership and oversee core technology infrastructure, including data centers, cloud platforms, servers, storage, virtualization, backup, identity services, Microsoft 365, DNS, and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, engineering, business, or a related field and ten (10) years of appropriate experience or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Significant experience leading or supporting enterprise infrastructure services in a complex organization.
• Experience with servers, virtualization, storage, cloud platforms, backup and recovery, identity infrastructure, Microsoft 365, and monitoring tools.
• Experience managing technical staff, priorities, projects, and operational support activities.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, patching, access controls, and operational resilience.
• Excellent communication, leadership, documentation, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership and Infrastructure Planning: Develop infrastructure strategy, standards, roadmaps, lifecycle plans, and investment recommendations aligned with institutional goals.
• Evaluate technology needs and risks, promote modernization, and ensure infrastructure services remain secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-effective.
• Partner with IT leadership to prioritize work, support digital transformation, and advance a proactive, service-oriented infrastructure culture.
