Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Director, Legal – Employment to own employment matters across EMEA, from recruitment to separation, and to build scalable processes for a globally distributed, all-remote organization.

You will lead negotiations with works councils, manage complex advisory work, and mentor legal colleagues and cross-functional partners while ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admitted to practice in at least one EMEA jurisdiction.
• Hands-on experience advising a multinational with works councils across EMEA.
• Track record of managing outside counsel in labor courts and employment tribunals.
• Deep knowledge of employment compliance across EMEA with ability to seek local counsel guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior, practical employment-law advice across GitLab and stakeholders.
• Manage employment lifecycle matters including recruiting, onboarding, compensation, leave, and separation.
• Negotiate with works councils and lead consultation for organizational changes.
• Represent GitLab in labor courts or manage outside counsel appearances.
