Job summary

Merck is seeking a Director to lead the West Point DMPK group, guiding mechanistic ADME studies and coordinating with discovery teams across modalities. The role emphasizes talent development, scientific creativity, and strategic decision-making to influence lead selection through FIH.

The ideal candidate will have deep ADME knowledge, PK/PD principles, and experience with PK/PD and PBPK modeling to drive dose selection and translational efforts.

Qualifications

• Experience providing DMPK support in drug discovery programs and communicating analyses to interdisciplinary teams.
• Experience integrating preclinical ADME, PK, and pharmacology data for translational PK/PD modeling and dose selection.
• Knowledge of in silico approaches for metabolism and drug interaction decision making.
• Experience with modern instrumentation supporting DMPK workflows.
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills with a track record of delivering results.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, scientific, and operational leadership for a group of scientists supporting discovery programs.
• Drive staff career development and mentoring.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality data and documentation.
• Support advancement of scientific and strategic initiatives within DMPK/PDMB.
• Set future strategy and implement new technologies in the organization.
• Oversee scientific oversight of programs and timely review of documents.
