Job summary

The Department of Design and Construction seeks a Director to lead Alternative Delivery and advance the Design-Build program across priority new buildings and renovations for Sponsor Agencies.

Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, the Director will oversee all project phases from initiation through completion, applying best practices in design-build and construction excellence. This role emphasizes leadership, strategic oversight, and cross-divisional coordination.

Qualifications

• At least six years of full-time construction management experience on capital projects ($300k+).
• Eighteen months in a managerial or consultative capacity in project management.
• Education credits for engineering/architecture degrees as described (see above).

Responsibilities

• Oversee design-build projects in development, procurement, and post-award, ensuring alignment with DDC priorities and budget.
• Lead coordination across DDC divisions to drive projects forward on schedule and within budget.
• Establish project management staffing plans and supervise teams in Alternative Delivery, Infrastructure, and Public Buildings divisions.
• Identify lessons learned across the portfolio to inform program-wide initiatives and procedures.
• Provide supervision and training to Deputy Directors and PMs/JPMs, supporting staff development and growth.
