Job summary

Foodsmart seeks a Director of Data Platform to own the data lifecycle across pipelines, warehouse, and modeling. Lead a distributed team and partner with Analytics, Finance, and product to deliver accurate, scalable insights.

You will establish Data-as-a-Product governance, SLAs, and data observability while guiding AI-native engineering and compliant data flows. This role blends hands-on architecture with people leadership to scale our data foundation.

Qualifications

• Over a decade of data engineering experience, with 4+ years leading and scaling teams.
• Hands-on mastery of modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and orchestration tools.
• Expert-level dbt proficiency with semantic layer design and data modeling.
• Strong SQL and Python engineering skills.
• Professional fluency with HIPAA regulations and healthcare data architecture.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of the data lifecycle from pipelines to warehouse infrastructure.
• Instill a Data-as-a-Product mindset with SLAs for data quality, freshness, and accessibility.
• Establish observability and contracts to detect regressions before they impact stakeholders.
• Lead discovery with cross-functional partners to design scalable architectural solutions.
• Direct the evolution of foundational models and dimensional modeling for AI/analytics.
• Partner with Analytics & Data Science to align standards and governance.
• Maintain clear ownership boundaries between core product systems and analytics.
