Job summary

Fidelity Investments seeks a Director of Data Platform to guide modernization of core recordkeeping platforms and scale enterprise data capabilities. You will coach senior engineers, partner with Product, Architecture and Security, and set standards for cloud, mainframe, and API-enabled solutions.

You will influence strategy, drive operational excellence, and ensure resiliency, security, and high performance across global teams and critical business applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including large-scale mainframe applications.
• Deep expertise with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM and mainframe practices.
• Strong experience with SQL in DB2/Oracle environments.
• Experience with application modernization: API enablement, cloud integration, legacy transformation.
• Experience with Java, RESTful services, distributed architectures.
• Experience with ETL technologies, Informatica, data integration, large-volume processing.
• Cloud experience, preferably Azure; cloud-native practices a plus.
• Experience with Kafka and Redis a plus.
• Strong Agile, DevSecOps, and SRE knowledge.
• Proven ability to influence engineering strategy across orgs.
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and organizational leadership for globally distributed engineering teams.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and Engineering to align with roadmaps.
• Establish engineering standards, architecture principles, and governance for scalability and security.
• Lead modernization across cloud, API enablement, data platform evolution.
• Drive adoption of Agile, DevSecOps, automation, observability, and SRE practices.
• Remove impediments to delivery, improve platform performance and reliability.
• Champion operational excellence with risk management and continuous improvement.
• Ensure platforms meet reliability, security, and compliance goals.
• Communicate strategy and progress to senior leadership.
• Guide modernization investments balancing value, debt reduction, and stability.
• Foster mentoring and talent development within the team.
• Promote adoption of emerging technologies and modernization patterns.
