Job summary

Kapitus is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead a multi-year modernization of our data platform, centered on Snowflake, dbt, and a cloud-native stack. You will set architecture, standards, and review critical designs while coaching onshore and offshore teams.

This player-coach role blends hands-on coding with strategic leadership, directing ELT pipelines, governance, security, and AI/ML readiness to drive measurable business value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of data engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading data engineering teams.
• Hands-on Snowflake expertise with warehouse design and security.
• dbt mastery across teams and environments.
• Strong SQL, Python, Git-based workflows, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Own the engineering and solution architecture of the data platform.
• Translate architecture standards into enforceable engineering patterns.
• Lead design reviews and architecture forums; document decisions.
• Lead end-to-end engineering build of governed data products.
• Migration of legacy analytics workflows to the modern platform.
• Own platform hardening, security, and operational readiness.
• Engineer for AI/ML workloads and platform readiness.
• Deliver against program milestone gates with validated delivery.
