Job summary

Kapitus, Inc. is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead a Snowflake-centered data platform modernization. You will set architecture standards, guide onshore and offshore teams, and stay hands-on to review code and data models.

You will drive design reviews, enable reusable ingestion patterns, and ensure data quality, governance, and security across the platform. This role reports to the Data & AI organization executive and focuses on delivering production-grade data products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of data engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading data engineering teams through enterprise data platform builds or modernization.
• Deep hands-on Snowflake expertise with warehouse design and cost optimization.
• Hands-on dbt mastery including architecture, testing, and CI/CD integration.
• Strong fundamentals in SQL and Python with CI/CD and IaC awareness.
• Experience with data governance, catalog readiness, and data contracts.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering and solution architecture of the data platform across standards.
• Lead design reviews and architecture decision forums; manage exceptions and conformance debt.
• Design for reuse with shared ingestion frameworks and semantic consistency.
• Review critical code and designs, optimize warehouse performance and cost.
• Lead end-to-end engineering build of governed data products from source onboarding to production release.
• Direct migration of legacy analytics workflows to the modern platform.
• Own platform hardening, security, and operational readiness of the data platform.
• Engineer for AI/ML workloads and ensure alignment with platform readiness.
• Deliver against program milestones with validated and accepted outcomes.
• Lead onshore and offshore engineering teams with clear design specifications.
