Job summary

Expedia Group in Austin seeks a Director of Data Engineering to lead Data Eng, Software Eng, AI, and Innovation for Marketing Automation and MarTech. You will set the vision and execution strategy for data platforms and services connecting customer, marketing, product, and operations data to enable scalable, responsible AI.

You will partner across Analytics, Marketing, Technology, and product to improve engagement, efficiency, and decision making while ensuring security, reliability, and cost

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, platform engineering, or related discipline.
• 3+ years leading managers or multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience defining technology strategy across complex, enterprise-scale environments.

Responsibilities

• Set and execute a multi-year data and technology strategy aligned to Marketing Automation and MarTech priorities.
• Lead data engineering, software engineering, AI, and innovation capabilities.
• Define architecture standards and pragmatic build/buy/partner decisions balancing speed, scale, security, and cost.
• Build and evolve scalable data pipelines, APIs, integrations, and developer tooling.
• Establish data quality, observability, lineage, governance, and incident response practices.
• Partner with Analytics and stakeholders to create trusted metrics and self-service capabilities.
• Enable analytics, ML, generative AI, and responsible AI through robust data foundations.
• Lead an innovation portfolio from discovery to production, turning experiments into products.
• Create alignment on roadmaps, priorities, risks, and progress for senior leadership.
• Develop a high-performing organization of engineering leaders and individual contributors.
