Job summary

Comstock Companies seeks an experienced Director of Pre-Construction & Powered Land Opportunities to lead site selection, land acquisition, and utility interconnection for hyperscale data centers. You will bridge real estate, power infrastructure, and pre-development planning, working with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field; Master’s/MBA preferred.
• 8+ years of direct experience in data center real estate acquisition, pre-construction, or utility infrastructure.
• Proven track record of securing powered land (MWs to GW) for hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data centers.
• Experience negotiating with utility companies and navigating interconnection queues.
• Deep knowledge of high-voltage transmission networks, substation concepts, and utility tariff structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead site identification, land acquisition, and underwriting of strategic parcels for hyperscale/data center developments.
• Collaborate with brokers, landowners, and economic development agencies to secure sites via purchase, options, or JV.
• Negotiate Interconnection Agreements and Power Purchase Agreements with utilities and ISOs/RTOs.
