Job summary

Vantage Consulting in Richmond, VA is seeking a Director of Development & Construction to lead data center development from land identification through delivery. This owner/developer role combines front-end real estate with major construction oversight.

You'll evaluate sites, support acquisition, manage zoning and entitlements, coordinate utilities, and guide projects through design, procurement, construction and handover. Senior leadership experience in mission-critical environments is valued.

Qualifications

• 10+ years delivering large, technically complex development and construction projects.
• Experience across front-end development and physical construction delivery.
• Background in data centers, mission-critical or related fields valued.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and critical-path activities.
• Strong leadership of GCs, contractors, and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and construction lifecycle end-to-end.
• Identify, evaluate, and acquire land/sites.
• Drive zoning, entitlements, permitting, and public agency relations.
• Coordinate utility requirements and infrastructure.
• Manage environmental, geotechnical, and due-diligence consultants.
• Oversee design development, preconstruction, and procurement.
• Control budgets, schedules, and critical-path activities.
• Lead GC and MEP contractor governance and closeout.
• Maintain relationships with capital partners and stakeholders.
