Job summary

CME Group is seeking a Director, Corporate Communications based in Chicago to lead external communications for equity index, cryptocurrency and retail products. You will collaborate with the global corporate communications team, brand and product marketing, and business line management to deliver measurable results.

This senior role requires a self-driven leader who can shape strategy, manage media relations, and produce high-impact content such as press releases and thought leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate communications, with significant experience in financial markets.
• Demonstrated success in navigating the evolving media landscape, proactively creating content across video, earned media and emerging social channels and news outlets.
• Proven track record of proactive leadership, reputation management and crisis communications in complex, high-stakes communications challenges.
• Outstanding writing, editing and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex programs with demonstrable business impact and measurable ROI.
• Strong business acumen and deep understanding of global financial markets and derivatives trading.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic external communications which position CME Group as a market leader in equity, cryptocurrency and retail derivatives.
• Drive strategic positioning, media relations, thought leadership and promotional content that accelerates client engagement and market growth.
• Serve as a company spokesperson who builds and maintains effective relationships with top-tier press, beat reporters, industry analysts and digital creators.
• Lead and contribute to the development and distribution of high-impact content (press releases, byline articles, social media, digital placements, media pitches).
• Shape the company’s reputation management, ensuring brand consistency and strategic alignment for crisis and issues management.
• Provide strategic counsel and communications support for business line leaders with messaging frameworks and promotional materials.
• Guide recommendations for external visibility through speaking opportunities, sponsorships, and media placements.
• Own measurement and ROI procedures for earned media and thought leadership content.
