Job summary

Breakthru is seeking an experienced communications leader to protect and elevate the company’s reputation across internal and external channels. You will craft executive messaging, manage the intranet, and develop content for announcements, social media, and stakeholder communications.

You’ll work with HR, leadership, and cross-functional teams to align messaging with corporate strategy, drive thought leadership, and measure success using KPIs and data-driven insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in corporate or agency communications and content marketing.
  • Experience with executives/leaders and both internal and external communications.
  • Digital communication savvy with social media, analytics and engagement.
  • Strong writing/editing, business acumen, and KPI measurement skills.

Job description

  • Protect and enhance Breakthru’s reputation with all stakeholders
  • Support narrative deployment to key stakeholders to raise awareness and build organizational thought leadership
  • Execute communications strategy engaging and inspiring team members regarding corporate strategy, progress, and direction
  • Support internal communications for corporate, functional, operations, drivers, warehouse, and market-based associates
  • Promote alignment with corporate vision and mission and ensure consistent messaging across internal and external channels
  • Represent audience and stakeholder views, interdependencies, and needs when crafting communications
  • Serve as primary editor of the company intranet SharePoint site
  • Craft organizational announcements, social media posts, executive communications, PowerPoint presentations, and corporate website news pages
  • Capture and share success stories highlighting Breakthru’s value to supplier partners, customers, communities, and team members
  • Write, edit, and produce internal and external communications content, including associate call materials, newsletters, roundtable materials, presentations, video scripts, and social content
  • Incorporate the corporate narrative into leader communications and advocate for the Breakthru brand story
  • Develop relationships with HR and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize communications opportunities
  • Identify issues, topics, trends, and events for internal and external channels and manage key updates
  • Analyze and measure communications results, applying learnings to future activities and reporting progress
  • Develop processes, templates, and toolkits supporting leader and market communications
  • Provide communications support for quarterly all-associate calls, top leader calls, executive roadshows, and the AOP/Leadership Conference
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in either corporate or agency environment in corporate communications, public relations and/or content marketing
  • Experience working directly with company executives/leaders, supporting business communications activities
  • Experience in both internal and external (media relations/PR) corporate communications
  • Technically savvy, including digital communication/engagement and social media platforms
  • Demonstrated business acumen, sound business judgment, and ability to provide relevant, actionable, data-driven advice to management
  • Understanding of stakeholder audiences including associates, supplier partners, customers, and communities
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, problem-solving passion, and strong diagnostic skills
  • Critical thinking and excellent writing and editing skills, quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt in a fast-paced environment, and see projects to completion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, and SharePoint/Teams
  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders and teams across North America while balancing multiple priorities
  • Results-oriented, with discipline around measuring KPIs
  • Must regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone
