Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Director, Compliance Counsel to lead the healthcare and corporate compliance program.

Reporting to the VP, Compliance, you will partner with executives across Commercial, Medical, Regulatory and Finance to shape policies and advise on marketing, promotional activities and investigations. The role requires a JD, bar admission, and 12+ years in life sciences law, with strong ethics, integrity and leadership.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent and State Bar admission.
• Minimum of 12 years of professional legal experience in life sciences.
• Experience with pharma advertising, promotion, contracts, training and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive healthcare and corporate compliance program.
• Provide strategic legal advice to Commercial, Marketing, Regulatory, Medical Affairs and other functions.
• Advise on sales, marketing and promotional practices under applicable laws and industry codes.
• Serve as Legal/Compliance representative on cross-functional committees and review materials.
• Guide interactions with healthcare professionals, payers, patients and related entities.
• Support product development, risk assessment, and policy development.
• Develop and deliver ethics training and compliance communications for employees and contractors.
• Investigate violations and coordinate corrective actions and remediation.
