Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Director of Infrastructure Lease Accounting to lead the technical accounting for its data center leases and related structures. The role collaborates with Real Estate, Legal, and Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting and auditor-ready positions.

As a strategic partner, you will drive ASC 842, 810, and 815 analyses, memo development, and process improvements, shaping how Anthropic accounts for its compute and energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong technical accounting background.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
• Deep knowledge of ASC 842, ASC 810, and ASC 815 applied to complex infrastructure contracts.
• Experience authoring technical accounting memos defending positions.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large contracts and datasets.
• Proven ability to improve scalable accounting processes in fast-moving environments.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into financial implications for non-finance partners.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with Real Estate, Legal, Finance, and Procurement.
• Experience partnering with engineering/infrastructure teams to improve financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical accounting SME for Anthropic's most complex infrastructure arrangements.
• Apply ASC 842 to lease arrangements, including modifications, reassessments, and embedded leases.
• Apply ASC 810 to counterparty and joint-venture structures (VIE analysis).
• Apply ASC 815 to energy and infrastructure arrangements.
• Lead technical accounting analysis and memo preparation for new arrangements, ensuring auditor readiness.
• Collaborate with Real Estate, Legal, and Finance during contract negotiation to ensure accounting implications are clear.
• Explain financial statement impact to non-finance stakeholders in clear terms.
• Serve as a point of contact with external auditors on technical accounting matters.
• Mentor accounting professionals across the Infrastructure Accounting team.
• Drive process improvements and automation, including leveraging AI tooling.
