LMU seeks a Director of Community Relations to lead its strategy for engaging with surrounding communities and stakeholders. The role builds trust with neighbors, local businesses, nonprofits, and public-sector partners to advance LMU's mission and public good.

The position reports to the Vice President for External Relations & Partnerships and collaborates with Government Affairs, Marketing, Facilities, and Student Affairs. It requires high judgment, diplomacy, and political awareness.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, political science, public administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in community relations, public affairs, government or civic engagement, institutional relations, communications, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive community engagement strategies and measurable performance objectives.
• Significant knowledge of Los Angeles-area communities and familiarity with City of Los Angeles government, neighborhood councils, public agencies, and local civic institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to establish credibility and build productive relationships with residents, community leaders, public officials and staff, business leaders, nonprofit organizations, and internal institutional stakeholders.
• Demonstrated political acumen and ability to operate in politically sensitive environments while maintaining neutrality, confidentiality, and coordination with university leadership.

Aufgaben

• Develop and implement LMU's comprehensive community relations strategy and annual operating plan.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with neighbors, community organizations, local businesses, and civic leaders.
• Serve as primary university liaison to neighborhood councils and local stakeholders.
• Maintain stakeholder maps, calendars, and relationship-management systems.
• Monitor neighborhood developments and advise on actions to protect LMU’s interests.
• Represent LMU at community meetings, hearings, and external events.
• Coordinate outreach with Government Affairs and public officials.
• Chair and manage LMU's Neighborhood Advisory Committee and oversee meetings.
