The Director of Communications serves as the communications leader for the Metro Region, helping internal and external audiences understand, experience and engage with the organization. A member of the Communications Executive Leadership Team, the director serves as a trusted advisor and strategic business partner to regional executives and key enterprise stakeholders.

Leading a high-performing team, this leader guides integrated communications approaches that advance regional and organizational priorities, strengthen stakeholder engagement, align with our values and support business objectives. The director provides strategic counsel to leaders across the region and enterprise, anticipating communications needs, navigating complex and evolving issues and communicating with clarity, credibility and purpose, including during high-profile or sensitive situations.

The director collaborates closely with leaders across the region to deliver effective, audience-centered communications that inform, engage and inspire action among team members, physicians, patients and community stakeholders. This leader contributes to enterprise communications strategies, advance communications best practices and help drive consistency and excellence across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative and business-minded communications leader who understands the critical role communications play in advancing organizational priorities, performance and culture in support of its mission.

This director is highly adaptable, with strong executive presence, sound judgment and a proven ability to translate complex business priorities into clear, thoughtful communications strategies that build understanding and connection. This leader works effectively across functions and with diverse stakeholders, fostering strong partnerships across the region and meaningful engagement within the communities IU Health serves.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape communications that advance the Metro Region's priorities and impact while influencing key enterprise initiatives. The Metro Region encompasses IU Health's Methodist and University hospitals, Riley Children's Health, IU Health North, IU Health Fishers and IU Health West, as well as the new IU Health Medical Center opening in downtown Indianapolis in 2027.

Through close partnership with leaders across Communications, the region and the broader organization, this director will help ensure communications are delivered thoughtfully and with purpose, building understanding among key audiences and reinforcing IU Health's connection to the communities at the heart of its mission.
