Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Director of Platform Software Engineering to lead teams responsible for core OKE platform capabilities, driving strategy, roadmap, and delivery for a highly available cloud service. You will guide managers and engineers across Kubernetes control planes, automation, and integrations with OCI infrastructure.

You will partner with product management to translate customer needs into actionable plans, align on security and performance, and mature platform readiness for AI/ML

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating production software, including cloud infrastructure or distributed platform services.
• Proven success leading multiple engineering teams and delivering complex initiatives across organizations.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise and understanding of control plane architecture and cluster lifecycle.
• Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience with OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong background in Go and Java with Linux, networking, and debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop engineering managers and engineers; foster ownership and collaboration.
• Define and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for core OKE platform capabilities.
• Own delivery across multiple teams with prioritization, staffing, milestones, and risk management.
• Guide architecture and design for distributed systems managing Kubernetes clusters across OCI regions.
• Provide leadership across Kubernetes control planes, controllers, APIs, etcd, scheduling, and runtimes.
• Partner with other OCI teams to deliver reliable integrations and resolve cross-team issues.
• Ensure service health and operational outcomes, availability, performance, and incident response.
• Establish design reviews, testing, observability, production readiness, safe deployments, upgrades, rollbacks.
• Drive automation to improve fleet health and reduce manual operations.
• Collaborate with product management and customers to translate workload requirements into roadmaps.
• Prepare the platform for AI/ML and GPU workloads; scale orchestration and infrastructure integration.
