Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Director of Systems Engineering to lead design, implementation, and ongoing support of the organization’s infrastructure and platform services. You’ll oversee a team of systems engineers, set standards, and ensure alignment with ITSM practices.

You will drive Azure and hybrid infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, IaC, DevOps, security controls, and resilient operations while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to improve reliability

Qualifications

• 8+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering roles
• Experience leading technical teams in an enterprise environment
• Strong leadership and ability to influence technical direction
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and cloud services
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, Bicep, ARM/Templates
• Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM frameworks and security/compliance practices
• Proven track record of automation and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of systems and DevOps engineers with coaching and performance management
• Define and execute infrastructure and cloud engineering strategy aligned with IT strategy
• Own design, implementation, support, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure across Azure and on‑premises datacenters
• Oversee architecture, administration, and lifecycle management of Kubernetes platforms
• Partner with application teams to design scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure
• Lead DevOps and IaC initiatives using Azure DevOps, Terraform, ARM/Bicep, and Git workflows
• Manage Azure DevOps backlogs, sprints, roadmaps, and engineering planning
• Develop and maintain infrastructure architecture documentation, runbooks, and diagrams
• Ensure platform reliability, performance, and capacity planning
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on controls and compliance
• Lead disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, and resilience initiatives
• Manage vendor relationships and third‑party technology partners
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve operations and outcomes
• Participate in budget planning and cost management
• Drive automation and self‑service capabilities to reduce overhead
