The Program & Center Director, ASCEnT & Integrated Systems, leads a first-of-its-kind, cross-college initiative that bridges supply chain management, engineering, and technology in partnership between the College of Business Administration and the Opus College of Engineering. The Director works closely with the deans of both colleges, and the center’s industry network to develop and execute strategies that elevate the center’s national presence, advance the ASCEnT (Applied Supply Chain, Engineering & Technology) concentration, and establish Marquette as the premier destination for integrated systems talent. The Director shapes and executes applied learning experiences that prepare students from business, engineering, and computer science to lead at the intersection of technical and managerial domains. Responsible for the center’s fundraising and revenue generation plan as well as fiscal management, the Director cultivates relationships with alumni, corporate partners, and industry leaders to sustainably fund operations, scholarship programs, and major strategic initiatives across both colleges. ASCEnT is a newly established, cross-college program jointly operated by the College of Business Administration (CoBA) and the Opus College of Engineering. It builds on the nationally ranked Center for Supply Chain Management (Top 10, Gartner 2024) as well as the Advanced Automation and Robotic lab and formalizes the partnership between the two colleges through the ASCEnT (Applied Supply Chain, Engineering & Technology) concentration — a first-of-its-kind interdisciplinary program open to students in supply chain management, engineering, and computer science. The Director must be comfortable working across the business–engineering boundary, championing a systems-thinking philosophy that prepares students to lead in AI-enabled, tech-driven global supply environments. Some evening and weekend commitments and occasional domestic and international travel are expected in support of events, discovery trips, and industry engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and successfully execute the strategy for achieving national visibility and recognition for the Integrated Systems Center, focusing primarily on growth of the ASCEnT concentration and advancement of cross-college learning and financial goals. Ensure strategy aligns to university-wide goals and the shared priorities of the College of Business Administration and the Opus College of Engineering. Partner with both college deans and ASCEnT faculty and staff to design and execute cutting-edge interdisciplinary curriculum — integrating supply chain, AI/Industry 4.0, and engineering systems thinking — at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Drive thought leadership and applied research at the intersection of supply chain management, engineering, and emerging technology, setting the agenda for integrated systems innovation. Develop ASCEnT and the center into a nationally recognized expert in the convergence of business operations, AI, and Industry 4.0. This includes establishing connections leaders outside the University who are advancing this interdisciplinary space, as well as representing the University at relevant professional organizations and speaking opportunities.
  • Manage the center’s budgets and ensure the center meets budget goals. Lead the development and execution of fundraising initiatives, in partnership with the Office of University Advancement. Cultivate relationships with board trustees, alumni from both business and engineering programs, university donors, employers, and leaders in supply chain, manufacturing, systems engineering, logistics, and technology sectors whose support advances ASCEnT’s mission, program, and scholarship initiatives.
  • Lead the Integrated Systems Center advisory board, including external leaders, who are considered cutting edge in their industry. Oversee communication channels with the center advisory board.
  • Strengthen the Integrated Systems Center’s standing within the academic and industry communities spanning both the College of Business Administration and the Opus College of Engineering, facilitating cross-college connections that grow interdisciplinary research opportunities, joint initiatives, and applied learning outputs in supply chain, engineering, AI, and systems innovation.
  • Lead and analyze data available to the ASCEnT program and center to strengthen decision-making and strategic planning across both supported colleges. Use data-driven insights to continuously improve the ASCEnT concentration and programming.
  • Work closely with both colleges’ deans, faculty, trustees, and industry leaders to offer students opportunities to participate in high-impact program experiences — including domestic and international supply network discovery trips, hands-on Industry 4.0 and automation lab work, and the signature “Chaos Project.” Develop employer relationships that lead to internship and career opportunities for ASCEnT students. Serve as a teacher or co-teacher, as appropriate, within ASCEnT or related center courses.
  • Responsible for the supervision of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related interdisciplinary field
  • 6-7 years experience in supply chain management, engineering, and/or technology industries
  • Strategic planning or large cross-functional project management experience, ideally spanning both business and technical domains
  • Strong leadership, including thought leadership, relationship building, and communication skills across both business and engineering stakeholder communities
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related interdisciplinary field
  • 10+ years experience in supply chain management, engineering, and/or technology industries
  • Business development and fundraising experience; familiarity with AI, Industry 4.0, or advanced manufacturing ecosystems
  • Undergraduate or graduate teaching experience, particularly in interdisciplinary or applied learning environments spanning business and engineering
  • Familiarity with professional organizations such as APICS / ASCM , ASEE , ASME , SME , etc.
