Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.

The Assistant Director, Academic Resource Center provides leadership and strategic development of the Academic Resource Center’s academic coaching case management system and peer academic support initiatives. This position serves as the point person for the MySuccess Academic Coaching workflow, including referral routing, coaching assignments, alerts, reporting, and database management. This position supervises the Peer Academic Learning Specialists ( PALS ) and the Academic Resource Center graduate students and oversees the Academic Resource Center study tables. This position leads the assessment and data reporting of academic coaching services, develops communication campaigns, and coordinates support for students on academic probation.

Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Coaching Case Management and MySuccess Coordination
  • Serve as the point person for the MySuccess Academic Coaching workflow, with responsibility for the case management technology including workflows, alerts, referral routing, and reporting.
  • Check coaching referrals daily, assign coaching appointments to Peer Academic Learning Specialists ( PALS ) and graduate students, and maintain the MySuccess database.
  • Coordinate the Academic Resource Center response to academic coaching referrals and provide academic coaching for students on academic probation, including support during the academic censure process.
  • Assist the Academic Resource Center Director in the delivery of the MARQ 1030: Strategies for College Success course.
Leadership for Peer Academic Support Initiatives and Academic Resource Center Graduate Students
  • Develop and implement the Academic Resource Center peer education initiatives. Supervise, hire, train, and conduct regular meetings with Peer Academic Learning Specialists ( PALS )
  • Oversee, implement, and assess Academic Resource Center study tables.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and evaluates the current scope of peer education initiatives and implements new initiatives as appropriate.
  • Supervise, hire, and train Academic Resource Center graduate students who provide academic coaching and support peer education initiatives.
Assessment, Data Reporting, and Communication Campaigns
  • Lead the assessment and data reporting of academic coaching services using MySuccess data, including referral volume, coaching utilization, and student outcomes. Develop and implement communication campaigns that promote academic coaching services, with a focus on outreach to students on academic probation.
Implementation of ARC Operations
  • Assist the Academic Resource Center Director in the day-to-day operations of the office, including planning, organizing, and coordinating office activities to achieve ARC goals. Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and training of ARC student employees.
  • Ensure that the ARC stays in alignment with College Reading and Learning Association ( CRLA standards).
  • Teach workshops and facilitate trainings on time management, study skills, and other student success topics.
  • Maintain the academic coaching website.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience plus supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of student development and learning theory.
  • Understanding of issues that hinder academic success, particularly for students on academic probation and other high-need populations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technology-based case management or student success systems, including workflows, alerts, referral routing, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and report student success data. Demonstrated ability to work with a broad section of stakeholders including faculty, students, parents, and other campus partners.
  • Evidence of programming and training ability. High level of organization and the ability to supervise a large team of undergraduate and graduate student employees.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.
  • 4-5 years related experience
  • Experience with student success case management platforms such as Slate, EAB Navigate, Starfish, or similar software.
