Job summary

Lamar State College Orange is seeking a Director of the Commercial Driver License (CDL) Program to lead administration, instruction, and operations for CDL training. You will ensure high-quality instruction, regulatory compliance, student success, and program growth.

You will oversee daily CDL program activities, collaborate with college leadership and external partners, and develop training opportunities with employers and workforce boards to meet regional workforce needs.

Qualifications

• Current, valid Class A CDL and minimum five years professional driving experience.
• Knowledge of CDL operations and applicable state/federal requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, instructors, and partners.
• Ability to organize multiple activities, schedules, and resources.
• Ability to maintain records and documentation per procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and daily oversight of LSCO's CDL program.
• Coordinate schedules, locations, cohorts, and use of vehicles/equipment.
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate CDL instructors and staff.
• Ensure curriculum aligns with regulatory bodies and standards.
• Maintain program documentation and timely reporting to authorities.
• Develop relationships with employers and workforce partners.
• Manage program budget and grant opportunities.
• Promote safety culture across all CDL training activities.
