Job description

The United States has the poorest maternal and birth outcomes of all developed countries with underserved, Black, Brown, Indigenous communities disproportionately affected. Cayaba Care is working to drastically improve the experience of affected communities by reimagining how we deliver meaningful and compassionate care to expectant moms.

Cayaba Care's mission is to improve pregnancy, birth and the postpartum journey for women and their families by reimagining how maternity care is delivered. Our team is focused on building trust-based engagement and wrap-around support for expectant moms at home, in person and virtually, to ensure they have all the social support they need for a successful and joyful pregnancy and postpartum journey. We also leverage technology to support our virtual engagement which allows us to meet all our moms where they are. We ensure that our members do not feel alone during their pregnancy journey, and that they have a trusted resource for support, resources, and information throughout their pregnancy, delivery and well into postpartum.

Our Values:

  • Empathy
is at the heart of everything we do. We must always center the experiences of the mothers and families we serve, as well as support and uplift one another.
  • Collaboration is what makes us stronger. We achieve the greatest impact when we work together, share knowledge, and elevate each other’s strengths.
  • Resilience
reflects our ability to push through challenges, adapt in a fast-changing environment, and remain committed to our mission no matter the obstacles.

The Role:

The Director of Care Delivery to lead our frontline teams (Maternity Navigators, Nurses, Doulas, and Care Coordinators) and ensure a seamless, high-quality experience for our members. This is a unique opportunity to shape and scale care operations at an early-stage, mission-driven startup. You’ll be the bridge between member-facing teams and tech, driving excellence at every touchpoint.

Location: Remote with 10- 25% travel to D.C., Maryland (PG County, Baltimore County), Tennessee (Memphis), and other future markets.

Responsibilities:

Care Team Management and Leadership

  • Manage and coach a multidisciplinary care team across multiple regions.
  • Run daily huddles and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and support.
  • Oversee team performance through regular communication reviews, chart audits, and KPIs.
  • Balance team capacity and staffing for active labor support and ongoing care.
  • Provide backup support for scheduling and member outreach when needed.

Operational Excellence

  • Design systems and dashboards to track team performance and care quality.
  • Lead regular reviews to identify gaps, coach team members, and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Product and Ops to implement new workflows and tools.
  • Translate operational changes into clear, actionable team workflows.
  • Resolve escalated member issues with urgency and care; coach team on prevention.
  • Surface insights to cross-functional teams to improve tools, programs, and service.

Training & Development

  • Hire, onboard, and develop high-performing care team talent.
  • Own technical training, SOP rollout, HIPAA compliance, and ongoing team education. Shadow virtual and in-person care to ensure consistent, high quality, empathetic delivery.

Qualifications:

  • 6-8 years managing frontline healthcare staff (nurses, community health workers, care coordinators).
  • Skilled in coaching, quality oversight, and driving performance in remote or hybrid care settings.
  • Proven ability to resolve issues empathetically and drive member satisfaction.
  • Strong operational mindset with comfort in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
  • Experience in training, change management, and compliance.
