Job summary

Hudson County Community College in Jersey City invites applications for the Director of Grounds and Maintenance Operations. This leadership role oversees day-to-day campus grounds, facilities maintenance, and related services, directing staff, scheduling work, and coordinating preventive and corrective activities to keep the campus safe, clean, and functional.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or higher; five years of hands-on experience in building and grounds maintenance.
• Experience supervising or managing facilities, maintenance, or grounds operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee campus facilities and grounds operations, including maintenance and custodial services.
• Direct and schedule staff, monitor performance, and handle staffing issues.
• Coordinate repairs, inspections, maintenance schedules, and work orders.
• Coordinate outside contractors and service agreements.
• Manage operating budgets, obtain quotes, oversee purchases.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and safety procedures.
• Coordinate facilities projects, renovations, moves and capital improvements.
• Respond to emergencies and after-hours operational needs.
• Experience in higher-education facilities is preferred.
• Experience with CMMS/work-order systems.
