Vista Equity Partners is seeking a Director to lead the Foundation Fund’s Business Development team. The fund manages $10 billion in assets and focuses on investing in growing enterprise software companies with revenues between $30 million and $100 million+. This role is crucial for the fund’s sourcing strategy, working closely with the investment team and senior leadership.

The successful candidate will oversee the pipeline and reporting, developing a systematic, data-driven approach to increase pipeline volume, engagement, and vetting efficiency. The BD Director must be adept at building operational infrastructure, nurturing relationships with software executives and intermediaries, and supporting a targeted, strategic sourcing model.

This full-time position is based in Austin, New York, Chicago, or remote, with an immediate start, reporting to a Managing Director within Foundation Fund.

Responsibilities
  • Enhance pipeline management processes using data and metrics.
  • Support the Investment Team in sourcing efforts, including targeting specific investor portfolios and thematic investment theses, preparing for meetings, and identifying marketing opportunities.
  • Manage a small Business Development team and mentor junior professionals.
  • Maintain and evolve sourcing infrastructure aligned with fund growth.
  • Develop and implement AI tools to automate sourcing and qualification processes.
  • Manage conferences and industry events, including candidate assessment and team collaboration.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA required; sales, finance, or business-related fields preferred.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience, such as PE/VC investing, business development, or investment banking.
  • Proven leadership and talent development skills.
  • Strong track record of success, accountability, and competitive drive.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and adaptability.
  • Data-driven mindset, proficiency with CRM tools like Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with the enterprise software industry is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

The annual base pay range is estimated between $275,000 and $350,000, with additional bonuses and benefits.
