Job summary

Abbott is a global healthcare leader delivering diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded medicines. We seek a Director of Medical Development for the MRD Breast Portfolio to guide clinical and translational efforts, design NGS-based assays, and support regulatory approvals for breast cancer tests.

You will partner with Product and Medical Strategy teams, build external relationships with oncology leaders, and lead advisory boards to inform medical strategy and evidence generation

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with fellowship in medical oncology.
• Demonstrated expertise in molecular oncology.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional internal and external teams.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop the vision and strategy for One or more Precision Oncology products (e.g., Oncotype DX related) in collaboration with commercial, product, regulatory and market access teams.
• Identify opportunities to expand indications for existing PO products and new products in biotech/pharma.
• Collaborate with R&D, product and commercial teams to shape commercialization strategies and product profiles.
• Lead as medical monitor on study teams and drive clinical protocols to support product development, validation and commercialization.
• Engage medical leaders to understand key clinical questions and the clinical utility of MO products for breast cancer patients.
• Oversee scientific presentations and publications from PO product development collaborations.
