Ceva Animal Health in Philadelphia seeks a Senior Director, Protein Sciences & Biopharma Discovery to lead biotherapeutics discovery and preclinical sciences at the CBC.

Reporting to the CSO, this role defines scientific direction for a team of about 12 scientists and works closely with global R&D partners to advance the pipeline from early discovery through PoC. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in biotherapeutics discovery and development.
• 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing multidisciplinary scientific teams.
• Deep experience in protein engineering and antibody engineering, including species adaptation and multispecific formats.
• Hands-on knowledge of expression systems (mammalian CHO, E. coli, yeast).
• Strong peer‑reviewed publication record and patent portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Define CBC biotherapeutics discovery roadmap aligned with R&D strategy.
• Direct rational design and directed evolution for protein/antibody engineering across species.
• Provide oversight across platforms and expression systems to support PoC and GMP readiness.
• Lead a team of ~12 scientists and manage performance development.
• Collaborate with global R&D, regulatory affairs, and business development.
• Evaluate external biotherapeutic assets and drive portfolio value.
