Job summary

Convergent Energy and Power is seeking a Director, Project Development to own a portfolio of Battery Energy Storage System projects. You will drive development from commercial handoff through Financing Ready/NTP, coordinating cross-functional teams to balance schedule, budget, and investment returns.

The role requires 8+ years in renewable energy project development, strong financial modeling, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Minimum 8 years developing renewable energy or BESS projects.
Strong commercial, financial, project management, negotiation, and stakeholder skills.
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
Experience managing development budgets, schedules and project economics.
Up to 25% travel; willingness to visit remote sites.

Responsibilities

Serve as the single point of accountability from commercial handoff to NTP.
Lead cross-functional pods to advance each project.
Balance schedule, budget, risk, commitments, and returns.
Assess risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Make recommendations on continuation or termination based on investment objectives.
Deliver financeable, construction-ready projects and transition to PMO.
Coordinate integrated development plans across engineering, legal, land, and analytics.
Ensure development milestones align with financing strategy.
Own development budget and authorize expenditures.
Preserve project economics while coordinating procurement and financing readiness.
Engage customers, landowners, utilities, AHJs, and communities.
