Role Overview

The Litigation and Investigations Legal team operates in a demanding, fast-paced environment. As Director, Assistant General Counsel, you will lead a team of lawyers supporting GEICO on insurance coverage, claims-related, and enterprise litigation matters, mitigating legal, financial, and reputational risks. You will report directly to the Vice President of Enterprise Litigation and Investigations.

Location

• This is a hybrid role, on-site 3 days per week at Chevy Chase, MD; New York, NY; and Cleveland, OH.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead efforts to identify and implement solutions to streamline legal operations, focusing on efficiency and scalability.
2. Track division performance using key metrics/KPIs and report to the Vice President.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders including underwriting and product teams to drive results and minimize risks.
4. Build relationships with internal partners to support business transformation and communication initiatives.
5. Mentor and develop a team of lawyers, setting strategy and goals.
6. Lead transformational projects and change management initiatives.
7. Stay informed of external environment changes and advise business partners accordingly.

Qualifications

1. Juris Doctor from a recognized law school.
2. 7+ years of legal experience, including claims legal functions.
3. Experience evaluating and managing reserve adequacy in claims litigation.
4. Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Strategic judgment for risk assessment and decision-making.
7. Experience managing a legal team.

Salary

$156,000.00 - $274,000.00 annually, based on various factors including experience, location, and responsibilities.
