Position: Director of Asset Management, AES US Utilities

AES US Utilities seeks a Director to lead the Generation, Transmission, and Distribution (T&D) Planning and Asset Management teams. This role oversees Asset Management, Planning, Forecasting, and Performance, setting strategic direction and improving reliability and performance through a collaborative, data-driven approach. The Director provides technical and managerial guidance, advising on business, financial, and regulatory scenarios, especially related to T&D expansion and reliability.

Position Description:

The Director of Asset Management will lead asset management strategies for Generation and T&D, with key responsibilities including:

  1. Annual Budget Development: Collaborate on creating budgets for outages, ensuring reliability and operational benefits.
  2. Planning: Develop strategies for system needs, customer analysis, power flow forecasting, and modeling to support regulatory and reliability initiatives.
  3. Asset Management: Define and implement asset management strategies, establish KPIs, and lead performance improvement initiatives.
  4. Performance: Ensure assets meet financial and operational objectives, monitor KPIs, and take corrective actions as needed.
  5. Sponsor Testimony: Support or sponsor testimony in regulatory proceedings related to T&D activities.

The role also involves building relationships across the organization, leveraging advanced statistical techniques, predictive modeling, AI, and algorithms to analyze data, identify trends, mitigate risks, and develop operational strategies that support growth and performance objectives.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in the utilities industry, preferably in Transmission, Distribution, Planning, or Analytics
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in mathematical modeling
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven leadership and talent development abilities
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with state and federal regulatory proceedings
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
  • Six Sigma Certification
