Job summary

Instructure is hiring a Director, Assessment Content to lead the design, writing, editing, and research of our assessment content. You will own the end-to-end process, from design to delivery, working with Product Management to align the roadmap with content and research insights.

You will manage global US-based and offshore teams, making strategic decisions on where and how work gets done. You will leverage deep assessment expertise, including test construction and psychometrics, and push for

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in assessment content development, assessment research, or product development within the education industry.
• Seven+ years of people leadership experience, including leading managers and teams with a mix of specialties.
• Deep assessment expertise, including test construction, blueprints, item specifications, accessibility compliance and psychometric concepts like validity and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Assessment Content team through subteam Managers/Senior Managers and the Assessment Research team.
• Own delivery of the assessment roadmap, including planning, staffing, timelines, and quality.
• Partner with Product Management to shape the roadmap with content expertise, research, and market insights.
• Manage a million-dollar-plus operating budget and distribute work across US, offshore teams, and vendors.
• Oversee content rights and licensing in collaboration with Legal and Procurement.
• Explore practical AI applications in content design, editing, and review to speed up work while preserving quality.
• Hire, coach, and grow leaders to adapt to business changes.
