Job summary

KPMG LLP is seeking a Director, Technical Lead Forward Deployed Engineer to guide the Forward Deployed Engineer team within the Advisory Services practice in Austin, TX. The role focuses on strategic direction, robust AI/ML system design, and production readiness across client engagements.

The ideal candidate will lead multi-disciplinary teams, drive secure engineering practices, and collaborate with executives to achieve tangible outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years of experience shipping end-to-end production secure software systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a science or engineering field.
• Deep knowledge of modern AI technologies and methodologies with leadership in AI system design.
• Experience leading teams and mentoring engineers; engaging with executives and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the FDE team and scale delivery with account/industry teams.
• Champion production discipline and enforce best practices in context engineering and testing; ensure secure, observable code.
• Mentor engineers, drive high-talent-density culture, and enable delivery of quality at speed.
• Lead client sessions and cross-functional collaborations to design AI systems with measurable outcomes.
• Drive delivery in rapid cycles; manage risks and ensure readiness for production.
