Job summary

Vi is seeking a technically hands-on leader to build and lead the delivery of AI applications for our Life Science Markets squad. You will design scalable systems, write production code, integrate models, and ship AI workflows while owning technical standards and squad delivery.

A background in life sciences or capital markets helps but is not required. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with data scientists and domain experts, and drive scalable solutions from prototype to production.

Qualifications

• A strong record of building and shipping production AI applications with measurable business outcomes.
• Experience leading technical delivery across functions while remaining a primary contributor to design and deployment.
• Practical experience integrating ML models and LLMs into production systems, including retrieval, outputs, and evaluation.
• Ability to translate complex analysis into clear conclusions for senior stakeholders and clients.
• Hands-on depth in scalable data pipelines, automated testing, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
• Experience turning pilots into reusable products used by multiple clients or teams.
• Background in life sciences, pharmaceutical analytics, or capital markets is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on delivery: build and ship core AI services and workflows, resolving blockers with engineers, data scientists, and domain experts.
• Squad leadership: lead engineers, set implementation standards, review code/architecture, and coordinate priorities.
• Strategy and roadmap: identify life sciences questions and turn them into a focused product roadmap.
• AI architecture: design systems blending ML models, LLMs, retrieval, and workflow automation with cost and latency in mind.
• Engineering quality: build automated tests, evaluation datasets, and monitoring for AI outputs and reliability.
• Production ownership: take prototypes to production, own models and APIs, and ensure observability and incident response.
• Client partnership: work with clients to understand workflows, explain findings, and translate feedback into priorities.
