Job summary

Cockroach Labs is seeking a Director of FP&A to reinvent our finance function for the AI era. You will build a real-time, AI-enabled planning and forecasting engine, partner with the CFO and executive team, and deliver board-ready financial materials.

You will lead a lean FP&A team, work closely with our Data & Applied AI group, and help shape pricing, packaging, and GTM strategies. The role is based in the Bay Area or New York with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, spanning investment banking, private equity, and/or FP&A at a high-growth company, with a strong foundation in financial modeling and analysis.
• Fluency with recurring and consumption-based revenue models and the metrics that drive them — ARR, net and gross retention, cohort economics, payback.
• A strong ownership instinct and a bias toward speed.
• A track record of driving AI or technology-led transformation of a finance function.
• Strong financial modeling, scenario analysis, and integrated three-statement forecasting skills.

Responsibilities

• Reimagine the FP&A operating model and lead its AI-native transformation.
• Own long-range strategic planning and pricing/packaging decisions.
• Oversee rolling forecasts with real-time signals and dynamic refresh.
• Partner with CFO and executive team to translate AI signals into strategic insights.
• Lead the design of board materials and investor packages with AI assistance.
• Develop interactive, real-time scenario modeling for business decisions.
• Deploy self-serve financial intelligence across R&D, GTM, and G&A.
• Foster cross-functional business partnering with R&D, GTM, and G&A leadership.
• Lead a lean, high-impact FP&A team with hands-on, high-leverage contributions.
