GitLab is seeking a Director, Financial Planning and Analysis to lead finance for our R&D organization. You will partner with the CTO and R&D leadership to own planning, forecasting, and investment decisions for AI-powered development, security, and operations.

You will connect headcount, cloud usage, and tooling to product outcomes, shape long-range plans, and drive efficiency with AI-enabled processes across a remote, globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• Lead finance partner to R&D/Engineering or Product org.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and cost drivers.
• Experience redesigning FP&A processes and using AI tools.
• Influence senior technical stakeholders and present executive recommendations.
• Advanced financial modeling and Google Sheets expertise.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• Comfort with remote, asynchronous work and GitLab usage.
• Preferred SaaS finance experience; MBA/CFA/CPA qualifications.

Responsabilités

• Advise CTO and R&D leadership; align plan to targets.
• Lead annual planning and rolling forecasts for headcount, costs, hosting, cloud, AI/LLM costs, software, and tooling.
• Build frameworks linking R&D investment to product outcomes; assess business cases.
• Track R&D efficiency metrics and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate on hiring plans, location strategy, and headcount forecasts.
• Lead AI transformation of FP&A workflows; improve planning, forecasting, reporting with AI.
• Redesign FP&A processes and collaborate with Accounting and Procurement.
• Develop and coach the R&D finance team and promote async, cross-time-zone collaboration.
